Can 180,000 Election Observers Prevent Potential Election Manipulation in the Federal Election?

Press-Release WEIMAR [December 16, 2024] In recent years, authorities and politicians have squandered the trust of many citizens. Unease and uncertainty are widespread, and distrust of the entire political establishment is growing. The 2025 Federal Election therefore takes place amid increasing skepticism toward existing institutions and requires decisive action.

This is why WABEO demands: "Election observation: nationwide, legally secure, and with independent final results on election night" – this is not only our aspiration but a central instrument for protecting and strengthening democracy.

At the founding, the chairman of the supporting association, Dr. Swen Hüther, stated: "Democracy thrives on responsible citizens whose duty does not end with casting their ballot on election day. Election observation is the first step toward creating a broad foundation for democratic oversight. For this, we need watchful eyes from Kiel to Konstanz and Aachen to Görlitz!"

The WABEO initiative requires no government funding for this purpose. On the contrary, to preserve independence, each election observer contributes a small amount toward the costs.

"We have set ourselves the ambitious goal of being present with three volunteers at all 60,000 polling stations on February 23. With these 180,000 election observers, we ensure that discrepancies between final results during the count and official election results are made visible and legally contestable," says one of the initiators, Stephanie Tsomakaeva.

A sovereign society emerges through decisive action. Every person, every contribution counts. Together, we shape our future ourselves.

WABEO – The Platform for Networked, Nationwide, and Court-Admissible Election Observation. For Democracy. For Transparency. For Germany.
